Myofascial Acupuncture
Myofascial pain syndrome (MPS) is a chronic pain disorder in which pressure on trigger points of the body causes pain in the muscles. It occurs as a result of repetitive contraction of a muscle. Although it may seem like muscle tension pain, it usually persists or even worsens over time.
It is believed that Myofascial pain occurs due to the muscle injury or from excessive strain on a particular muscle or muscle group, ligament or tendon. Although the exact mechanism of MPS is not fully understood, it is believed that MPS is characterized mainly by trigger points. These trigger points are usually found within the fascia, muscle, or tendinous insertions.
The symptoms of MPS can include:
-
Persisting pain that worsens over time
-
Aching pain in the muscle
-
A tender knot in the muscle
-
Difficulty sleeping due to the pain
Pelvic Floor Acupuncture Therapy for Men and Women
The pelvic floor can be explained as the muscles and ligaments that are attached to the pelvis and support the abdomen. These muscles are responsible for controlling bladder and bowel movement. A study revealed that roughly one-quarter of US women are affected by pelvic floor disorders. Pelvic floor dysfunction is the most common problem that can be explained as the inability of a person to control the muscles of their pelvic floor. As a result, patients may experience symptoms such as difficulty having a bowel movement, urinary incontinence, pain with intercourse, pain with a climax, and many other symptoms.
If you have any of these signs and symptoms associated with pelvic floor dysfunction, we can help:
-
Bowel strains or constipation
-
Urinary issues (e.g. painful urination, sudden urge to urinate)
-
Pressure in the pelvic region or rectum
-
Lower back pain
-
Muscle spasms in the pelvis
-
Discomfort during sexual intercourse (among women)
-
Discomfort with ejaculation
-
Testicular Pain
-
Pain in the lower private area
Treating Pelvic Floor Pain With Acupuncture
At Restore Pelvic Health and Dry Needling Clinic, our focus is the treatment of pelvic floor pain and myofascial pain syndrome (MPS).

Dr. Jamie Hampton is a pioneer in Pelvic Floor Acupuncture and is, in fact, the ONLY person in the U.S. that practices acupuncture for the pelvic floor. She works closely with your health care team and continues to successfully deliver great results over the years in treating pelvic pain with acupuncture. It is mainly because of her remarkable ability to utilize acupuncture to directly access the muscles of the pelvic floor.
For you, it is important to understand that inactive or weak muscles can be activated with gentle acupuncture stimulation. Her highly effective pelvic floor acupuncture techniques create direct communication between the pelvic floor muscles and the central nervous system, allowing for the neural re-integration and readjustment of your muscles, thus reducing pain signals.
Herbal Medicine
Herbal medicine can be explained as an ancient, immensely elaborate system of natural healing that has been used for centuries to treat various kinds of health conditions.
Herbal medicines are plant-based medications made from differing combinations of plant parts (e.g. leaves, flowers or roots). Both fresh and dried plant matter is used, depending on the herb. It can be said that herbal medicine is like a combination of both science and art. It is specifically created in the form of personalized formulas for each patient based on their imbalance or illness. Herbal medicine comes in many forms, including loose herbs for decoction or tea, granules, powdered herbs, pills or tinctures. It can be said with assurance that herbal medicine is extremely beneficial and safe for both chronic and acute conditions.
